Farm to Table Dinner + Drumming & Chanting Experience

Limited to 32 people. Separate payment required. (See ticket purchase page.)

Join us for a Farm to Table style dinner in the freshly restored hay barn, followed by a drumming and chanting experience!

Envision the rustic beauty of a restored barn with long tables, twinkling lights, wildflowers and platters filled with hearty vegetables, salads and food fresh from the market. Dine family style with other beautiful souls, sharing laughs and stories as you are old friends. After dessert we will gather together and come into harmony with a drumming and chanting experience.

This experience is designed to bring harmony to self and others by raising energy for healing, peace and empowerment through drumming and chanting. Life is vibration, tone and rhythm. Everything in life is in motion and producing a frequency. We too are vibration in motion and produce our own frequencies. When we fall out of harmony with ourselves or our world our inner sounds become discordant and we feel unhappy or afraid. We can draw upon the knowledge of our ancestors and come back into balance by exploring a deeper understanding of the use of sound not only for ourselves and others, but for the whole planet.

No experience is necessary. Simple rhythms and chants will be introduced. A limited number of drums and rattles will be available, bring your own drum or rattle if you have one.

Everything is optional and offered in the spirit of joy, gratitude and reverence.

Introduction to SomaYoga Therapy
SomaYoga, developed by Yoga North International SomaYoga Institute, is a blend of Somatics, therapeutic yoga, classic asana, pranayama, Ayurveda, and other yoga practices. Somatics re-educate muscles to gain greater mobility, therapeutic yoga to stabilize, and classic asana to strengthen/lengthen/stabilize.

This healing modality is beneficial for all ages, from the higher performance athlete to those recovering from injury, want to prevent injury, or just want more freedom. Some of the conditions this practice helps alleviate are: plantar fasciitis, sciatica, sacroiliac pain, chronic neck & shoulder tension, and chronic hip & back pain.

This workshop includes an introduction to the SomaYoga methodology, practice, and review of how to integrate this practice into your life. This class is accessible for every body as you are guided to find the postures and movements in a way that is from within, along with suggested variations.

After this session, you will have the option to receive a video link to support your home practice.

Relax and Release Fear
"Fear is the cheapest room in the house. I would like to see you living in better conditions." ~Hafiz

The dictionary defines fear as "an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat." The state of fear is meant to keep us safe, and not in the jaws of a bear. However, we have lost sight of real fear, and our mind has created a new definition, one that encompasses the False Evidence that Appears Real (F E A R), often wrapped into a tightly bound story. Chronic fear weakens our immune system and stresses our nervous system, leading to chronic pain, anxiety, depression and sleep disturbances. All things that work to further weaken our inner defenses. Kundalini Yoga taught through a trauma-informed lens offers several useful tools for releasing fear, new and old fear, so that we can relax and restore.

Class will include a gong bath relaxation.

No previous Kundalini Yoga experience is needed.
All levels welcome.

Rejuvenate Your Nervous System
The nervous system plays a role in nearly every aspect of our health and well-being. It guides everyday activities such as waking up; automatic activities such as breathing; and complex processes such as thinking, reading, remembering, and feeling emotions. Stress taxes the nervous system. Modern times trigger the sympathetic nervous system far more frequently than the parasympathetic nervous system, and this creates an imbalance, or dis-ease. Trauma-informed Kundalini Yoga offers several useful tools for rejuvenating and strengthening the nervous system.

Class will include a gong bath relaxation.

No previous Kundalini Yoga experience is needed.

Yoga Therapy for Anxiety
Anxiety doesn’t only affect our bodies and minds, it affects our energy, our relationships, and our perspective on life. Some of the most common symptoms of anxiety are tightness and pain in the physical body, changes in energy, and/or recurring negative thoughts. Yoga Therapy uses movements to reduce bodily discomfort, breathing to regulate energy, and meditation and chanting to focus the mind. This multi-faceted approach is especially helpful because it addresses the many different dimensions of our human experience and how anxiety manifests uniquely in each of us.

In this workshop, you will experience a gentle yoga practice designed specifically to address anxiety. The practice will include gentle movements, breathing techniques, meditation, and chanting. This workshop is trauma-sensitive and will include modifications so everyone can experience the nourishing and supportive tools of yoga therapy.

Mantra Meditation For a Peaceful Mind and Calm Body
  • Wired but Tired?
  • Racing thoughts?
  • Exhausted but hard to sleep?
  • Find meditation difficult?
Experience relief and soothe your system through mantra meditation, the conscious repetition of special sounds. ‘man’ is from ‘manas’ the Sanskrit word for mind, and ‘tra’ means tool. Mantra is ‘a tool for the mind’ or ‘that which protects the mind’. The sound, meaning, feeling, and vibration focuses our attention, no more scattered monkey mind.

Experience the inner joy within yourself through mantra meditation. “The mind takes on the characteristics of what it focuses upon.” says my teacher. With so much crisis in the world and a steady media diet of over stimulation, we can be choiceful in what we ingest and change the course of our body-mind state in a supportive direction.

We’ll use simple breath-based yoga movement and postures to prepare the body, and seated breathing to prepare the mind to meditate through the ancient technology of mantra. Experience the inner joy within yourself through mantra meditation. These special sounds lead us back to the source of silence and peace within ourselves.

No prior experience or knowledge is required. All are welcome.

Element Based Yin Yoga
Yoga has a lesser-known sister science called Ayurveda.

Ayurveda is the oldest known health system that holds the belief that health can be achieved only through a delicate balance of mind, body and spirit.

According to Ayurveda we ourselves are elemental beings made up of differing amounts of all the elements of nature. EARTH, WATER, FIRE, AIR and ETHER just like everything around us in the natural world.

Our objective in this Yin Yoga practice is to facilitate awareness, connection, and balance among these elements though a series of postures held for 2-3 minutes each. Allowing us to target deeper connective tissue and create a more inward meditative experience.

Raidant Shaktiflow is a celebratory expression of Tantra in that it weaves together aspects of spirit and nature to raise Shakti for a transformational experience. It celebrates the dance of life and joys of embodiment by combining juicy yoga warm ups, creative movement, chanting, and yoga nidra along with ritual. Ritual is said to act in two dimensions simultaneously, the physical and spiritual. When we hone our intentions in the moment we can draw heaven down to earth, and the energy we raise not only blesses us in the now, it reverberates into the future. This can help lead us home to our heart, the place where heaven and earth meet in each of us. No experience necessary. Variations given as needed with steadiness and comfort for all!

Prepare to come to life!

Waking Nomad is bringing their transformative practice to the River Valley Yoga Festival. The session begins with an introduction to the active practice of sound meditation. Thomasina and Bob will explain how to begin working with your attention to cultivate awareness. You will learn to use sound as a tool for going inward. You will be guided through movement and breathwork designed to release tension from the body and reset the nervous system. Once the physical body has been prepared we will drop into 60 minutes of sound meditation.

While immersed in the rich sounds of the overtone producing instruments you’ll allow the experience to bring you into the present moment. Practice letting the linguistic and discursive mind fall away while making room for a more open and receptive mode of engaging with the world. Give yourself permission to enter a liminal state, connecting with the sounds and vibrations of the instruments through a process of judicious listening and receptivity. Lean into your joy, vulnerability, compassion and strength.

Gentle Yoga is a great class for beginners, students with injuries/limited mobility or for those who prefer a softer, gentler approach to yoga. This class is designed to help you create openness in the body and mind. It combines dynamic movements, gentle stretching and deep breathing to dissolve physical and mental tension. The last twenty minutes of class will finish with a restorative pose paired with singing bowls. Drop into a guided meditation with crystal singing bowls while also enjoying a mini Reiki session as you continue to drift deep into relaxation.

“Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.” — The International Center for Reiki Training

The Architecture of Yoga Asana
In the Yoga Sutras, the sage, Patanjali, mentions asana practice in one verse: “sthira-sukham asanam.” Sthira refers to stability and sustainability. Sukham literally translates, “good space.” Like a gifted architect designing a home that will stand for decades and have beautiful space to allow in light and air flow, the mindful yoga practitioner builds postures from the foundation up, establishing stability, sustainability, and good, easy space in the body.
In this workshop, we will intentionally practice yoga postures, rekindling our love for fundamentals and basics, while acknowledging that the way we understand the fundamentals of yoga asana grows, changes, and evolves throughout our years of practice and as our bodies change and mature.
This workshop is open to every age and every level of practitioner.
Consider bringing your asana questions and curiosity to explore with the group!

Yoga Nidra to Welcome Autumn
Yoga Nidra is an ancient form of yogic meditation, typically practiced in a reclined position. It is an efficient method of inducing complete physical, mental and emotional relaxation while maintaining consciousness. Yoga Nidra not only brings physical and mental relaxation but also prepares the mind for spiritual evolution. Nidra translates, “sleep;” Yoga Nidra is a 'sleep' where all the burdens, stress, strain, anxiety are thrown off to attain a more blissful state of awareness, a relaxation much more intense than ordinary sleep.

As the season changes and we begin to cocoon in preparation for the winter ahead, this Yoga Nidra session provides an opportunity to surrender to all inevitable changes and open to the possibility of transformation.
After a brief introduction to the structure of Yoga Nidra, we will practice together.

No previous yoga experience required. This workshop is open to every age and every level of practitioner.
